Some customers come to us without a fabric in mind, while choosing fabrics could be important as it decides the price, quality and comfortability.

Today let me introduce some of the most commonly used fabrics of t-shirts.

1. Cotton. Cotton is made from the natural fibers of cotton plants. It’s also known as Pima cotton, Egyptian cotton, Supima cotton. The benefits of using this fabric is that it is very comfortable, breathable, soft, and absorbent. However, it could also be prone to wrinkles, and easy to shrink, which means after a few washes, t-shirts could be 5%-10% smaller. Some manufacturers would do a shrinking process before making a t-shirt, so that when consumers wash their t-shirts, it is only 2%-4% smaller.

We would recommend customers to use this fabric when they are looking for high quality materials.

2. Polycotton. Polycotton fabric is a combination of both natural cotton and synthetic polyester fibers. Usually it is 65% polyester plus 35% cotton. By creating this hybrid, you will get a fabric that has the advantages of both fibers: tough, durable, breathable, and soft. It is more affordable compared with 100% cotton, but also not as breathable as 100% cotton.

It feels very much like cotton, we recommend customers to use this fabric when they have their budgets.

3. Polyester. It is a man-made polymer. It is not a natural choice such as silk, cotton, or wool. Polyester is very durable and resistant to shrinking and stretching. It is also resistant to wrinkling and abrasions. The fibres are easily dyed. Because it is quick dry, it is mostly used on outdoors clothing.

We would recommend this fabric when customers are looking for sportswear.
